Cable Design by Jay Victor
My core business, and what I am most well known for, is audio cable design. I can design any kind of audio cables as a service, and I can arrange the manufacture with strategic partners.
Starting in the late 90's at Monster Cable, later re-named Monster Products, I began a career working with audio cable, as well as a multitude of other audio products. In charge of new product development, I worked on probably hundreds of cable design projects, most of which consisted of establishing new lines for different sales channels, and different product levels. All the high end audio cable technology was derived from initial designs provided by Bruce Brisson, of MIT fame, who contracted with Monster to design cables initially. I learned quite a bit from these designs. Over the many years this went on, the cables continued to evolve, with many enhancements that often included different grades of copper, different dielectric materials, as well as many variations in overall construction. Bruce Brisson had his own cable design ideas, but I also had my own ideas, which I was free to explore as the engineering manager, and this began a long road. Monster was, if nothing else, a huge marketing company, and I learned a lot there. At Monster, we also began exploring power cables for audio components, but this was very preliminary, with this being a whole new category at the time. Monster never went full bore into this, but I wanted to go much further with it. Eventually, I parted company with Monster, and established Orbital Development in 2002.

As a result of being an independent company, I've been able to work with many well known audio brands, and have learned much from all of these experiences, as well as having been exposed to many different design philosophies. I've consulted for such companies as Audioquest & Cardas (earphones), but I basically act as a consultant for all of my clients, advising on product levels, positioning, marketing strategy (I graduated from the Monster Institute of Marketing), as well as pricing strategy, along with anything else related to audio product. I've worked with, and designed cables for many well known companies, such as PS Audio, XLO, Ultralink, Clarus, Tributaries, Pangea, Belkin, and many others.
