Founded in October 2002, Jay Victor is President, CEO, & Chief Designer of Orbital Development, LLC and holder of approximately 50 patents for cable geometry and connector design.

 

Working both independently and with strategic partners, countless Audio/Video products have been developed and/or consulted on, for many high-profile customers in the field. Companies worked with include such brands as Pangea, PS Audio, Audioquest, Belkin, Monoprice, Ethereal Home Theater, StreetWires, Esoteric Audio, Phoenix Gold, Fender, Vox, Savant, Tributaries, Horizon/Rapco, Core One, Clarus, Ultralink, Cardas, XLO, and other well-known brands that prefer to remain anonymous for now.  Emphasis is always on providing best possible value for the money, and best possible performance in relation to the sound of live music.  Products for these companies have included virtually every sort of audio product including headphones, earphones, cables, speaker stands and audio racks, speakers, amplifiers, power conditioners, AC receptacles, guitar amplifiers, record cleaning machines, Pro/MI products including mixing consoles, and many others.

 

Previous to Orbital Development, Jay was New Products Development Manager at Monster Cable Products, Inc., and was instrumental in developing hundreds of Audio products over the course of approximately 5 years there.  These products included cable, power conditioners, speakers, amplifiers, and other accessories. Jay was instrumental in Monster's entry into the power conditioner market, and personally managed the development of the highest end models.

 

Prior to Monster, background includes 12 years of intensive engineering work, working as a Mechanical Design Engineer in large Engineering departments alongside and working together with Electrical Engineering counterparts, who were often audiophiles, which led to many audio “side projects”, and also a very good electronics education on-the-job. One of these electrical engineers currently works with Jay at Orbital.

 

Design work has included X-Ray cables & wire harnesses, proprietary connector design, and scientific test instrument design. One of the employers involved made calibration systems for missile guidance systems, so, often very high tech projects with much higher requirements than audio.

 

All audio designs are evaluated with test instruments, but final decisions are made only after the products are subjected to intensive listening tests and comparisons with reference designs, keeping firmly in mind the sound of live music.

 

Most recently, Jay has become very well known for his Pangea product line marketed by Audio Advisor, and the Clarus high-end audio cable line which features his highly advanced cable designs.  These received a highly favorable review in The Absolute Sound magazine. The Clarus Concerto power conditioner has also received favorable reviews in many publications, also including The Absolute Sound.
